David is responsible for the Company's valuations. He has worked in venture capital his entire career, and has valued hundreds of private equity positions ranging from megabuyout portfolios to small tranches of illiquid founder's stock. He began his career at Pantheon Ventures, an institutional investor with over $30 billion under management, and one of the largest participants in the private equity secondaries market. At Pantheon, David assisted with the transaction of limited partnership interests in venture funds like Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. David joined the private equity exchange fund EBX as vice president in 2007. At EBX, David valued common stock positions in over 200 startup enterprises. He helped to assemble two funds of venture-backed companies whose founders committed to swapping stock with each other based on David's valuations. David is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in Industrial Engineering. He is a member in good standing of the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Keyvan is responsible for the growth and profitability of the Company. He also oversees the hiring and performance of the firm’s analysts and ensures that Preferred Return's valuations comply with the latest AICPA-mandated appraisal techniques. In this role, Keyvan works across the business development, marketing, client service, and technology teams to disseminate a cohesive strategy and establish KPIs.
Keyvan began his career as an Auditor for the Investment Management group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in San Francisco, and expanded his responsibilities there as a Strategy Consultant and Valuation Specialist, providing risk management and technology implementations in the former and performing valuation reliance for over-the-counter derivatives and structured products in the latter. Keyvan was a California CPA (expired) and a current CFA Charterholder.
Brandon is responsible for the Company's business partnerships and client relations. He received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from Georgetown Law School. He began his career as legal and financial counsel for investors in commercial and residential real estate in the Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas, and expanded his knowledge as an associate in the financial services and products group at Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta. There, he was involved in public securities offerings, securities law compliance, and issuer formation matters, and gained deep experience in regulatory topics governing diverse areas of finance, tax, and corporate governance. Brandon has broad knowledge of the emerging regulatory landscape and a lifelong passion for working with startup companies and entrepreneurs.
Based in San Francisco, Liya is in charge of relationships and fulfillment on the West Coast. Liya received her B.A. from UC Berkeley and an M.B.A. from NYU Stern. She began her career at Duff and Phelps, where she performed hundreds of equity and asset valuations for private equity positions and mid- to large-cap firms. Liya then joined AXA Equitable in New York to work on strategic initiatives as a Director on the CEO's Chief of Staff team. In 2009, Liya returned to California to start her own firm, focused on working with startup companies. She has supported successful debt and equity financing rounds and an $80M asset acquisition for a Cerberus Capital Management-backed company.
Julien is in charge of technology development for Preferred Return. He joins Preferred Return from Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he served as a trading systems specialist. Julien began his career in New York, developing trading software within the Equity Derivatives division of BNP Paribas, a major European bank. Subsequently, he passed the Series 7, 55 and 63 licenses and assisted the management of a portfolio of approximately $1 billion of convertible debt securities, trading for the firm's proprietary account in such sectors as technology, biotechnology and industrials. In 2009, Julien became the CTO of a growing investment management firm, successfully designing, building and managing its information systems from the ground up. He joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 2013, where he focused on the development of trading software within their Credit Derivatives and Special Assets groups. Julien holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Ecole des Mines in Saint Étienne, France. He is currently based in San Francisco.
Nicholas provides analytical support for Preferred Return. He previously served in the investment banking group at Capstone Partners, focusing on mergers and acquisitions. Nicholas has a thorough understanding of private company finance and business statistics related to valuation, including private equity capitalization structures and the latest AICPA-mandated appraisal techniques. He graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with dual degrees in Finance and Economics.
Frank is a valuation analyst at Preferred Return who provides a range of analytical support to early stage companies, with a primary focus on the 409A process. He has had the pleasure of working directly with and determining fair market value for over a hundred different companies between their Series Seed and Series D investment stages. Frank is passionate about entrepreneurialism and the execution of good ideas. Prior to his current position, he held a variety of roles across a range of functions in the startup world. Some of his more interesting roles include marketing for caskets and acting as an organizer for Startup Weekend. In his spare time, he enjoys pursuing high intensity sports such as fencing and attempting to replicate difficult recipes. Frank holds a B.A in Economics from DePauw University and is currently studying for the CFA designation.
Jackson is a valuation analyst for Preferred Return and has a strong interest in finance, entrepreneurship and valuation work. Prior to this role, he worked at Stern Value Management as a Management Consultant at the Analyst Level. At Stern, Jackson helped various clients identify their Key Performance Indicators and implemented the concept of Economic Value Added (EVA) over the course of his stay with the firm. In his free time, Jackson enjoys playing basketball, soccer and golf. He graduated from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business in May of 2014 with a degree in Finance. Jackson is a CFA Level 2 Candidate and plans on taking Level 2 in June of 2017.
Jonathan provides analytical support for Preferred Return and has a passion for finance, technology and entrepreneurialism. He previously was a generalist Research Associate at W.R. Hambrecht + Co., a technology-focused investment bank, where he supported five senior analysts covering ~60 equities in Enterprise Software, I.T. Storage, Semiconductor, Cyber-Security and Internet sectors. Before that, Jonathan was at Caine Mitter & Associates, a leading Municipal Advisor, where he assisted in the administration of State and Local Housing Authorities mortgage-backed security programs enabling them to carry out their public mission of affordable housing for low-middle income families. Jonathan has a deep understanding of both private and public company equity valuations, including complex private equity capitalization structures and the latest AICPA-mandated appraisal techniques. He graduated cum laude from the Rutgers Business School in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and is currently studying for his Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
